The encounter between the sea and the land has formed beaches that are simply spectacular in these parts, sheltered from the chaos and contamination of modernity.
Observe the landscape, immerse yourself in this splendid sea or, more simply, lie down on these beaches and let yourself be caressed by the rays of the sun means to make a providential recharge of pure energy.
It also means rediscovering the pleasure of being in peace with oneself, thanks to the direct contact with nature, with beauty.
But what are the most beautiful beaches in Cilento? The answer is easy: all of them! But to simplify the task, we have selected the 5 most beautiful ones in our opinion: la Baia del Buondormire, the beach of Marinella, the bay of Trentova, the beach of Lentiscelle and the beach of Pozzallo.
From the Resort Baia del Silenzio is easy to reach them. Even if you have come on holiday without your car: to get there we organize a shuttle bus service from our village that will take you to the destination you want to discover and live.
La Baia del Buon Dormire
The first stop of our journey to discover the beaches of Cilento leads us to Palinuro: la Baia del Buon Dormire (the Bay of Good Sleep), with its sea caves, is without a doubt one of the most suggestive in the area.
The cliffs overlooking the sea, the cove and the famous Rabbit rock offer a remarkable view.
But to fully enjoy this painting painted by Mother Nature, it’s better to reach the beach on weekdays or in any case during periods of less crowding. In fact, the space is limited.
In any case, arranging your journey in advance, you can take advantage of a beach service with umbrellas and a kiosk. You will also make a nice gift to your little ones: the sea is almost always a table, making it as easy as possible to snorkel.
But to confine oneself to this would be reductive. In this scenario, in fact, you should also visit the caves. Among these, the Grotta Azzurra cannot fail to attract attention. And not only for the name, which recalls the most famous one of Capri.
The blue color – really intense – captivates the eye, while its backdrops represents a spectacle in the show: also for this reason diving is the order of the day here.
Particular – not only for the coloring of the water, but also for its smell – is the Grotta Sulfurea (Sulfur Cave); Idem is the Grotta dei Monaci (Cave of the Monks), whose name is inspired by the shape of the rocks in it.
The Grotta del Sangue (Cave of Blood) also has a strong impact: the reddish rocks that form it reflect on the water, giving the sea, a hue tending to red.
The Beach of Marinella
Equally interesting, just a little further south, always in the territory of Palinuro, the Marinella Beach, near the beautiful natural formed by rocks.
If you like it, you can also enjoy a small excursion to the Saracen watchtower, from where you can enjoy the panorama and a white cliff that “falls” into the sea.
But this is also the ideal terrain for climbing: the Palinuro cliffs are a wedding invitation for lovers of this sport!
But clearly the real attraction is the beach – wide and with fine sand – bathed in clear waters. Enjoying this glimpse of Cilento in the early hours of the maximum: “smells” of beauty and relax.
You can arrive by land – there are no shortage of establishments – but you can also get there directly from the sea: different, in these parts, the possibilities to enjoy a boat trip.
Or, once on the spot, you can rent canoes and pedalò (paddle boats) to enjoy the panorama from a different perspective, but equally rich in charm.
The Bay of Trentova
Another beach not to be missed – one of the most popular in the area – is located in Agropoli: it is that of Trentova Bay.
Just a few hundred meters from the Rock of St. Francis, it draws attention because it seems to live in a postcard, where the green of unspoiled nature merges with the various shades of blue that take on water, very clean even when there is a “tide” of people. A long stretch of sand divides the land from the sea.
The origin of the name of the beach – tells the legend – comes from the alleged discovery of thirty turtle and seagulls’ eggs laid under a rock.
The Bay of Trentova, thanks to its equipped beaches, represents a landmark not only for families, but also for the elderly in search of tranquility.
That sense of peace that permeates the environment comes a little less in high season, but the spectacle of nature fully justifies an excursion to this suggestive view of the Cilento.
Couples also know this very well: there are some points of Bay, in fact, that allow you to enjoy a bit of privacy.
The bay also offers interesting ideas for divers and snorkeling enthusiasts: the seabed is simply wonderful.
The beach of Lentiscelle
Marina di Camerota could not miss the exclusive club of the five most beautiful beaches of Cilento.
The beach of Lentiscelle, south of the town center, has a sandy coastline, while the backdrops are characterized by pebbles and stones. This contrast creates a remarkable color effects.
The beach of Lentiscelle, within a walking distance from the town of Marina di Camerota, lies in a context of great historical importance, with traces of the presence of man ranging from prehistoric times to the invasions of the Saracens.
A jump into the past of the history of humanity is proposed by the Cave of the lock that, together with the Caves of the Fish, dell’Autaro, del Poggio, della Cala (or Prehistoric Man), is of great interest to the scholars of Paleontology, while the hope of all is that something more should be done from the point of view of enhancement for tourism purposes.
Another point of interest is represented by the Tower of Zancale, built to protect the coast from the invasions of the Saracens.
A mini excursion to the watchtower is advisable: from this hill you can enjoy a panorama of strong charm: on the one hand there are the cliffs of the marine protected area of the Costa degli Infreschi, on the other hand the village of Marina di Camerota.
The Pozzallo’s beach
The 5 wonders of Cilento’s marvels are closed by the Pozzallo’s Beach: for many people it is a real paradise on earth. It is not easy to reach, and this has made it possible to preserve the nature and a truly unique landscape.
Reaching by land this wonderful beach nestled between the rocks and wild nature (the alternative is to get there by boat) is already a delightful experience.
From Marina di Camerota, after having covered a stretch of dirt road, leave the car and continue by foot. Rather than an obligation, it’s a gift: in this way you can enjoy a lovely panorama.
A metaphorical dive into unspoiled nature, before indulging in the real one in the clean and transparent sea that bathes and exalts the Cilento.
And it’s worth it: the fishes seem to meet you to party; for experienced swimmers there is also a chance to admire the starfish dwelling in the Pozzallo’s Cave.
It is certain that amidst coves, sand, pebbles, sun-kissed rocks (by the way: sunset is an amazing spectacle not to be missed) and the surrounding greenery, it seems to have been projected out of the world. This perception becomes even stronger when it turns out that even mobile phones are struggling difficult to find coverage.
Slightly bad: this is another extra reason to enjoy direct and authentic contact with a nature. An opportunity to rediscover yourself. At least in the low season. In August, inevitably, there is always great fullness.
But this does not affect the beauty of this corner of paradise. A dip in the sea that bathes the Pozzallo’s beach is always worth doing it.
